Kiva is a fascinating site that allows you to make "micro" loans to individuals in developing countries. I loaned money to Jesca Awor in Uganda to help her build her poultry business. She has up to 12 months to repay the loan. You can make loans as small as $20. Kiva is the middle man that handles the transaction. They keep $0. 100% of your loan goes to the recipient. Interesting concept- not charity...a loan. Please give it a look.
